Terex Delivers Another Flagship TM520 Material Handler, To Pinns Wharf In Barking, London

MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND, 26 January 2009 - - - Pinns Wharf Ltd., the shipping division of Robert Gibbs (Contracting) Co. Ltd. has taken delivery of a new 52-tonne Terex® TM520 material handler. The machine is used for sorting and loading scrap metals at its Barking Creek dock-side yard on the Thames Estuary in the east end of London.

This is the second TM520 to be delivered in the London area since the new model was launched earlier last year. The 52-tonne flagship model of the Terex® wheeled material handler range is popular with large scale, heavy-duty scrap handling operations because of its big lift capacity at the extra-long reach of up to 21.8 metres, enabling it to manage large stockpiles of material up to 16 metres high, and to reach across and down into ships’ holds. With a large capacity (1100 litre) cactus grab it can load ships of up to 5,000-tonne capacity in 2-3 days, which is important when having to turn ships round quickly in the tidal creek. About 250,000 tonnes per year is exported by Pinns Wharf.
