Another ‘Great Grab’ For Hudsons Of Dudley Limited

Scrap yard purchases its second Terex® material handler

MOTHERWELL, SCOTLAND, 28 January, 2009 --- “Everyone is going to Terex for material handlers,” were the words of Maurice Hudson Junior when asked why his family’s business, Hudson’s of Dudley Limited, had purchased a Terex® TM350 for its thriving West Midlands scrap yard.

While word of mouth recommendation was a factor in Hudson’s recent purchase, they also point to their own experience with their able-bodied Terex® 1804 material handler, which has been working at their yard for more than two years. Regarding the TM350, Hudson Junior says, “It’s a well built machine, the engine is good and it has a great grab on it. At our yard, the machines are lifting up to five tonnes at a time so it’s important that we have a machine that has a good grip. Terex has designed it perfectly in this respect.”

Maurice Hudson Senior started the business more than 50 years ago and, in addition to general scrap handling, it now specialises in recycling steel mill rolls, which vary in size from three tonnes to seventy tonnes.

The 1804 material handler has had little-to-no problems in the two years it has been at the yard. According to Hudson Senior, this is due to both the sturdiness of the machine and the fact that their operator, Carl Hickinbottom, regularly maintains and greases the machine.

Hudson Senior says of the Terex® material handlers, “They are good products; the best we’ve had and the strongest in every way. The support we’ve had from our Sales Manager, John Crerar, had a big influence on our decision to buy Terex® machines again.
