TEREX LAUNCHES NEW TA400 ARTICULATED DUMP TRUCK

MOTHERWELL, Scotland, 4th November 2009 – Terex has launched its toughest performing articulated truck to date: the 40-tonne TA400. The Terex® TA400 replaces the Company’s current TA40 articulated truck and has been developed to keep the owner’s productivity levels high and fuel consumption low, whilst providing total comfort and control for the operator.

The TA400’s reliability and durability was put through the rigors at a testing facility in South Africa, known for its varied terrain and environmental conditions. The tests confirmed drivetrain heat balance and lubrication, drivetrain high torque endurance and hydraulic system full-load durability.

The truck has been given a new hood and grill design while an extended engine oil service interval will help lower the cost of ownership. The interior of the TA400 has been updated with a host of features, including updated air conditioning and a re-designed steering wheel. Key operating switches have been moved to the right hand side of the dashboard where they are now within easier reach of the driver. To make the working environment even more comfortable for the operator, interior cab noise levels have been reduced and a new style of mirrors provides excellent visibility.

“The TA400 has quality and reliability built in right from the start,” says George McNeil, Global Product Manager for Terex® Articulated Trucks. “The truck’s improvements are a direct result of listening to our customers and taking on board the improvements they wanted us to make. I believe the TA400 is the most durable and productive ADT that Terex has ever produced”.

The TA400 Launch Event
Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th of October 2009 marked the official unveiling of the Terex® TA400 articulated dump truck to an audience of distributors and their end customers, direct customers and press from France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.

The launch event, held at the Terex Equipment Ltd facility in Scotland, involved a demonstration of the TA400 at a local site, followed by the opportunity for all guests to get behind the wheel and trial the truck for themselves. Other machines on display and available for trial at the event included compact track loaders, excavators, wheel loaders and the 50th anniversary 860 elite backhoe loader.
